Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

Search for your profile before creating one. Sign in to claim or create your profile, then enter a game you played. A profile may already exist because another player entered a game or Spieler reviewed an event record.

Which game formats can I enter?

Enter completed standard curling games with three or four players per team: 4 v 4, 3 v 4, or 3 v 3. Choose Doubles for a game with two players on each team. Two-player teams cannot play against three- or four-player teams in Spieler.

Does a game that ends by concession count?

A normal standard game that ends by concession is a completed result. Enter the winner and the recorded score if known. Spieler does not use the number of ends.

What about other formats or unfinished games?

Mixed doubles, forfeits, no contests, pre-agreed shortened games, abandoned games, and other modified formats cannot be entered through this flow. Do not enter them as a standard game. A completed game needs one winning side.

How does a doubles rating work?

Your doubles rating is separate from your standard rating. Both partners count equally toward their team’s strength and receive the same rating change. Each starts at 1,200 with no doubles games. Standard games do not count toward doubles confidence, and doubles games do not change standard ratings.

List the two people who played as Player 1 and Player 2. The order does not change the calculation. Doubles uses a provisional method that has not yet been calibrated against doubles results. Opponent confirmation works the same way as for standard games.

Does everyone need an account?

No. One signed-in player with a connected profile enters the game. Search for each player first. If they are not there, add them as a Guest using only their name. You do not need their email or phone number. A Guest can claim their profile later.

What if I don’t know everyone’s name?

Choose “I don’t know their name” for that player. Spieler saves the game with “Player not identified” in their position. No one’s rating changes until every player is identified.

From the saved game, share a link with someone who knows the names. Any signed-in recipient can suggest them. The person who entered the game approves the names before ratings update. This does not claim a profile or confirm the game. If the names are never supplied, the game stays saved and unrated.

How do I enter positions, spares, or three-player teams?

Enter the people who actually played, including any spare, in Skip, Third, Second, Lead order. Tap a row to choose a player. Dragging or the reorder controls are optional shortcuts. For a three-player side, choose the unused position rather than adding a fourth player. Your position can start from your last game; check it before entering this one.

Can I reuse a lineup?

For standard games, choose a recent game to reuse your team. Reusing the opponents is optional. Venue and competition are filled in too. Check who played and the date, then enter the new result. The old date and result are not copied. Doubles lineups are entered separately.

Do I need the final score?

No. Choose the winner if you do not know the score. If you add a score, enter both sides; the winner comes from that score. The score margin does not affect your rating. Read how ratings work.

Does an opponent have to confirm before ratings change?

No. Ratings update when a supported game has every player identified. An incomplete lineup stays saved and unrated until the missing names are approved. One player on the opposing team with a claimed, connected profile can confirm a rated game. The submitter cannot confirm their own entry, and confirmation does not update ratings again.

If nobody on the opposing team has claimed a profile, the game stays marked Unverified. An opponent can claim a profile and confirm later, or Spieler can review and verify it. Game verification is separate from the New, Provisional, and Established rating labels.

How do I ask an opponent to confirm?

After entering the game, share the confirmation link with an opponent. You can copy it, use your device’s share option, or show its QR code. A name-only opponent needs a profile claim reviewed before confirming.

Notifications are not live during the pilot. Check your Games page for updates. Spieler does not contact a Guest when it only has their name.

What if a game is wrong?

A participant can flag a game for review. Anyone can request a correction review. A dispute preserves the game and its rating changes while Spieler reviews it; it does not automatically erase them. Detected duplicate submissions do not award a second rating update.

Where do profiles come from, and who can see them?

Profiles can be created by the curler, a player entering a game, or reviewed event records. The source stays attached to the record. Unclaimed profiles are hidden from anonymous search. Claimed profiles are public, and account email addresses are never published in profile search. Read the Privacy notice or request a claim, correction, or removal review.

Is Spieler a social network?

No. You can find curlers and compare available ratings without follower counts or a social feed. Recent players help you enter your next lineup. Your rating belongs to you, not a permanent team, and stays with your profile across clubs and seasons.
